Corning High School team attends food summit in Japan

Three Corning Union High School students, Mickaila Cordray, Angel Stocks, and Tattenai Villalba, along with their chaperon, Cindy Dixon, recently attended the 2019 International Food Summit organized by Nakamura Gakuen High School in Fukuoka, Japan. The summit took place as an aspiration to bring students from high schools around the world to each provide a five minute presentation on a solution to the ongoing issue of food and hunger problems worldwide. There were nine teams total attending and presenting their solution to over 2,000 people, including eight judges who focused on the students’ performances. In this, Corning Union High School was the only team from the United States to attend this year’s Food Summit. Dixon said the Corning High School student are extremely grateful to those who contributed to the funds for the girl’s trip to Japan, including a big to thank the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Corning Rotary, and Bretney Sutterfield Professional Tax Preparation Services, and all of those who contributed to the fundraising efforts.
