Corning woman arrested on arson charges

A woman whose McLane Avenue mobile home went up in flames in Corning on July 5, has been arrested on arson charges in relation to the fire. Rhonda Ruth Penrod was arrested by a CalFire officer Thursday, July 8 on suspicion of felony arson/inhabited structure and misdemeanor possession of controlled substance paraphernalia. CalFire responded to the structure fire around 8:45 a.m. on the day of the blaze where they found the mobile home fully engulfed, but no one home, except for a dog, which was taken in by animal control. Penrod was booked into the Tehama County Jail on $250,000 bail.
