Rancho Tehama fire burns 60 acres

CalFire and volunteer firefighters were one hand to battle a second wildfire of the season in Rancho Tehama July 16-19. The vegetation fire started around 1:05 p.m. Saturday, July 16 in the area of Rainbow Ridge and Stagecoach Road. More than 60 acres burned, along with one mobile home. Engine 613 was first on scene and WT809 was second, between both units they were able to keep the fire from burning any more homes until more resources arrived on scene to begin aggressively fighting the vegetation portion of the fire. No injuries were reported. The fire was fully contained at 6 a.m. July 19. The cause is under investigation. The first major vegetation fire in Rancho Tehama this summer occurred June 13 and burned around 300 acres. CalFire asks all residents to be extremely cautious this summer to help avoid causing vegetation and wildfires.
