A 37-year-old Los Molinos man has been sentenced to 11 years in state prison after being convicted of raping a 14-year-old girl at his residence..
Juan Carlos Rodriguez Avila was sentenced last week in Tehama County Superior Court on a charge of forcible rape of a child 14-years or older.
He was arrested Oct. 22, 2017, by a Tehama County sheriff’s detective on suspicion of rape, incest, sodomy and other crimes.
According to the Tehama County District Attorney’s office, the 14-year-old girl was spending the night at Avila’s residence when she woke up to him sexually assaulting her. When the assault ended and Avila left her room, the girl woke up her brother who was also at staying at the home and they fled the house.
The victim and her brother contacted family members who then the notified law enforcement.
When told police were looking for him, Avila fled the residence but was later located and then interviewed at the sheriff’s office where he was arrested and booked into the Tehama County Jail on $304,500 bail.
