Two arrested after police find alleged illegal campsite

Corning police officers were conducting follow-up on a theft case from Sept. 27, when they came across Joseph Strout, 62, right, and James Walker, 59, left, both of Corning and the men’s alleged large illegal campsite in the area of South and Houghton avenues on Sept. 28. Police said Strout was wanted on 10 outstanding warrants, including several felony warrants, and Walker had seven warrants for arrest. As police searched the camp, they reported locating drug paraphernalia. Strout and Walker were arrested on warrants, suspicion of drug paraphernalia possession, littering in a waterway and streambed alteration.
