Carry the cross today
Local residents are sharing in carrying a large wooden cross this morning along streets in Yuba City to symbolize Jesus' suffering on Good Friday.
The walk starts at 9:30 a.m. at the Town Center at Plumas Boulevard and continues along Plumas Street to Colusa Avenue and Gray Avenue before returning to the town center's fountain.
'Cowboy' church service is Sunday
A "cowboy" church service in celebration of Easter is set at Red Dog Ranch in Yuba City.
The interdenominational service is at 7:30 a.m. Easter Sunday at 5173 Franklin Road.
Eggstravaganza, Good Friday service set
An Easter Eggstravaganza at Cooper Avenue Baptist Church on Saturday includes three different egg hunts for children age babies to 12 years old, games and registration for Vacation Bible School.
The festivities, with about 3,000 eggs, are from noon-2 p.m. at the church's parking lot on Clark Avenue. The church is at 804 Cooper Ave.
The church is also having a Good Friday service at 7 p.m. today.
Church hosts Easter egg hunt
The fifth Annual Community Easter Egg Hunt, hosted by Adventure Church of Yuba City, is at 10 a.m. Saturday at Riverbend School, 301 Stewart Road.
For children age infant to sixth grade, the free event includes more than 14,000 plastic eggs with candy, games and free hot dogs and lemonade, while they last.
Sunrise services planned
Easter Sunday sunrise services are planned at several locations in the community:
Sutter Buttes — Gates open at 5 a.m., with the service at 6:30 a.m., at the Sutter Buttes cross, at the intersection of Acacia Avenue and Pass Road, Sutter. Rain cancels the service.
Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church — The indoor service is at 6 a.m. at 115 Fifth St. A breakfast follows the service.
Ellis Lake gazebo — 6:30 a.m. at 12th Street off D Street, Marysville. The service is sponsored by the Yuba-Sutter Ministerial Association.
Colusa — 6:30 a.m. along the Sacramento River, at the top of 10th Street. In case of rain, the service is at the Presbyterian Church, 326 Jay St. The service is hosted by several Christian churches in Colusa.
Singer to perform free concert
Christian singer Pam Marks Hall is performing in a free concert at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity Anglican Church, 929 11th St., Marysville.
A barbecue follows the concert.
