Christmas concert begins this Sunday

A concert series with the theme “Christmas Makes Everything New” in Colusa County begins with its first performance at 7 p.m. Sunday at Arbuckle Methodist Church, 600 Pendleton St.

Composed of singers from churches throughout Colusa County, the free concerts present traditional Christmas songs in a medley with a Trans-Siberian twist.  

Concerts are also planned at

7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 21, at Colusa Assembly of God, 1747 Highway 20; and 7 p.m. Dec. 22 at Grimes Community Church, 350 Main St. 

A reception follows each concert.


Living nativity presented by Youth Gospel group

A living Nativity is part of the Tri County Youth Gospel Worship Explosion this weekend at Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Marysville.

The program is at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at 115 Fifth St.

The performers are rehearsing at 3 p.m. Saturday at the church.

Presbyterian services for Dec. 24 and Dec. 31

The Marysville Presbyterian Church is hosting services Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.

Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, includes a service at 10:30 a.m. and worship at 7 p.m.

The New Year’s Eve service is at 10:30 a.m., followed by a potluck at 11:30 a.m., Dec. 31. Participants are invited to bring a salad to share.

Regular Sunday services are scheduled to continue in the new year at the church chapel. The church is at the corner of Sampson Street and Rideout Way. 

Combined worship for Christmas Eve

The Marysville First United Methodist Church is celebrating Christmas Eve with a combined worship service in the morning and a candlelight service in the evening.

Services are at 10 a.m. and at

6 p.m. Dec. 24.

The church’s Sunday worship services are combined to 10 a.m. through Jan. 7, with January birthdays and anniversaries recognized that day.

A potluck will follow the service Jan. 7.

The church’s two services return Jan. 14, with contemporary worship at 9 a.m. and traditional worship at 11 a.m.

The church is at 730 D St.


Christmas toys and candy to be given to children at service

Christmas toys and candy will be distributed to children in sixth grade and under during the service Sunday at Bible Baptist Church in Linda.

The service is at 11 a.m. at 2787 N. Beale Road.

The gifts were donated by the church and a local resident.

The church offers bus service to people who wish to attend its Sunday service.

Candle lighting at Christmas Eve service

Candles will be lit at the conclusion of both services set Christmas Eve at the First United Methodist Church in Yuba City, 3101 Colusa Highway.

The services are at 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m.
