First United Methodist Church hosting a Water Walk, presenting program on Sunday

The First United Methodist Church of Yuba City will host a Water Walk this Sunday, June 10. 

The event is a 2K walk to increase awareness and decrease clean water poverty. Participants will experience how more than 35 percent of people worldwide fetch their household’s water each day. Twelve booths will feature how a village works with Lifewater and attendees will learn basic hygiene, waste containment, safe water storage and how to maintain a water source.

Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. at 3101 Colusa Highway in Yuba City; the walk will begin at 10 a.m. The event is free and open to the public.

That same day, the church is presenting Walking on Water, A JOY Sunday Production.

The production will highlight moments from the Bible, such as how Jesus and Peter walked on water. Lunch will be provided afterward. 

Walking on Water will start at 11 a.m. and is free and open to the public. 

Lego-themed Vacation Bible School scheduled June 11-13

The First United Methodist Church of Yuba City will hold Meet the Master Builder, a Lego-themed Vacation Bible School from June 11-13.

Participating children will spend each day using water and Legos while learning about God and Jesus Christ. 

Lunch will be provided during each session and the three-day event is free.

Presbyterian church hosting day retreat on June 16

The Colusa Presbyterian Church announced it will host a day retreat for the public next Saturday, titled “Life Transitions: Finding God in the Center of the Unknown.”

“Transitions are a common part of life. Sometimes they are welcome and sometimes they're not ... regardless of what you’re experiencing, it’s important to give yourself the sacred time and space to honor it, reflect on it and discover new life from it,” the church wrote in a statement.

The event will be hosted at 326 Jay Street on June 16 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. 

The cost is $15 but can be covered if needed. Light snacks and lunch will be provided. For more information or to RSVP, call 458-2802.
