Event aims to help 300 families with donations drive
About 20 local community service organizations are taking part in the “Let’s Love Our City – A Day of Hope” event hosted by Victory Outreach Church Twin Cities.
Set from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at 523 J St., Marysville, the event also includes a clothing and jacket room for families to select items, free haircuts and a chance to receive a free turkey.
Participating organizations include A Woman’s Friend, Yuba College Child Care Center, Stand for the Silent, Employment Development Services and Harmony Health.
In its sixth year, the event serves more than 300 families each year, according to organizers.

Musical analyzes peoples’ thoughts when in a crisis
“The Ripple Effect,” an original modern musical presented by Creative Light Theater, is set at the Church of Glad Tidings’ Embassy Theater at Highway 99 and Eager Road in Sutter County.
The production follows a man who thought his life was over when he landed in jail and looks at the deepest thoughts of people in crisis.
The play is at 7 p.m. daily from Dec. 8-12. Admission is free.
