Miracle of Christmas Drive-thru returns with 15 scenes

The Miracle of Christmas Drive-thru, with 15 scenes from the life of Christ, starts Dec. 8 at Crossroads Community Church in Yuba City.

The annual event is from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. daily through Sunday at 445 B St.

Presented by more than 350 volunteers, the program includes actors and live animals and Christmas carols.

The free event is the church’s gift to the community.

Procession will honor Our Lady of Guadalupe

A procession honoring Our Lady of Guadalupe, the patron saint of Mexico, is set Sunday in Yuba City, ending with a Mass at St. Isidore Catholic Church.

The procession starts at 10:30 a.m. at Garden Highway and Percy Avenue and travels north to Morton Street, west to Clark Avenue and ending at the church, 222 Clark Ave.

The program continues with a Mass at noon and a reception from 1:30 p.m.-4 p.m. at the parish hall.

Celebration of Our Lady of Guadalupe has included the recitation of the rosary at 6:30 p.m. every day continuing to Tuesday at the church.

On Tuesday, the saint’s feast day, activities at the church include “Las Mananitas” from 4:30 a.m.-6 a.m., a Mass at 6 a.m. and a Mexican breakfast at 7 a.m., with a second Mass at 6 p.m.

The program is under the direction of the Guadalupana Association of St. Isidore.

Donations accepted for Adopt-a-Family program

Donations are being accepted through Tuesday for the Adopt-a-Family Christmas Program coordinated by the First United Methodist Church in Yuba City.

This year the program will serve 53 families in need who were referred through county agencies, departments and schools, plus another 59 foster children.

Non-monetary donations such as unwrapped new toys and non-perishable food may be dropped off at the Yuba City church at 3101 Colusa Highway between

9 a.m.-11 a.m. Sunday or 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday and Tuesday.

Local United Methodist churches participating include churches in Yuba City, Marysville, Sutter, Meridian, Colusa, Biggs, Gridley and Knights Landing.

Local United Methodist churches have matched families in need with donors since 2010.
