The Yuba County Office of Education is mourning the loss of a beloved trustee. On April 11, 1990, Marlene Rastetter began her almost three-decade long position as Trustee in Area 1 for the Yuba County Office of Education. She served as president for several of the 28 years. George Smith, Yuba County Board of Education Trustee, has served alongside Marlene for the past 28 years. “Marlene has always been committed to the children, schools and the well-being of the entire county,” shared George Smith. Eva Teagarden, Yuba County Board of Education President shared, “We are so saddened to hear of Marlene’s passing. Marlene was a strong supporter of the YCOE students, staff and programs. She always had positive things to say to the staff. We all will miss her.” Marlene’s example, sense of humor and loyalty has inspired us all. Yuba County Superintendent of Schools, Francisco Reveles expressed deep sorrow and sense of loss. He shared, “I admired Ms. Rastetter’s strength and commitment to all Yuba County’s children and families.” We are grateful for her many years of service to the YCOE family. The Yuba County Office of Education extends its deepest sympathy to her family.
