Jonathan McDaniels, of Yuba City, was presented with awards at ceremonies from two organizations this summer. Jonathan earned his Eagle Scout rank from Troop 7050, BSA, and was honored with the Degree of Chevalier from Northstar Chapter, Demolay International.

For his Eagle project, Jonathan led his scout crew and adult volunteers in the building and hanging of nine owl nesting boxes for the Coyote Run Golf Course at Beale AFB. The owl population will help control the rodent population on the golf course. Jonathan was honored by Demolay International, a Masonic-affiliated organization for young men, for his exceptional service to Northern California Demolay and the community. He served as a Demolay leader at the chapter and regional levels, and on ritual performance teams at the jurisdictional level. The Degree of Chevalier is not an honor applied for, but given to an active Demolay, unbeknownst to the recipient in advance.

Jonathan will be attending Southern Oregon University beginning this fall to get a degree in music education.
