Orland Art Center has an eight-year long tradition of hosting one annual gallery showcasing the work of numerous artists. This year’s “Group Exhibit” will feature work from 32 artists, who work with every medium conceivable.
All the artists featured in this gallery are from Northern California, but that’s about the only thing they have in common. Patrons of the exhibit can expect to find artwork ranging from paintings, sculpture, woodwork and photography.
“This exhibit, with its wide ranging of styles and techniques, offers a perfect way to usher in this last full month of summer,” said Rae Turnbull, gallery director. “This juried show is as diverse as the artists themselves.”
And within each artistic discipline, viewers will find an expansive assortment of styles. For example, among the paintings will be watercolor, pastels, acrylics and oils. And within these different techniques come landscapes, portraits, realism and abstract.
“Styles and techniques include wild and whimsical abstracts, finely detailed realism, lush landscapes, provocative portraits, traditional western scenes and innovative combinations of media that produce unexpected and refreshing artistic results,” Turnbull said.
Work from these 32 artists will be on display during the entire month of August. The art center is open for viewing Tuesdays through Saturdays from 1 p.m.-6 p.m.
Patrons of the art center will have the opportunity to meet all 32 artists at a gallery reception to celebrate the show’s commencement. The reception will be from 3 p.m.-7 p.m. Friday at the Orland Art Center.
“There are always excellent treats at the refreshment table and music performed on our baby grand piano by this month’s talented young pianist, Oliver Moore,” Turnbull said.
