Glenn County’s unemployment rate in March was about the same as February’s, according to the latest statistics from the Employment Development Department.
March’s unemployment rate was 8.2 percent, ranking Glenn County 44th out of California’s 58 counties. The national unemployment rate was 4.6 percent while the state’s was 3.9 percent.
In February, Glenn County’s unemployment rate was 8.1 percent.
Despite the slight increase in the unemployment rate, Glenn County saw an increase of 280 jobs in March. The farming industry saw the largest increase with 170 jobs added.
Other industries that saw an increase in jobs include mining, logging and construction (10 jobs); service providing (100 jobs); trade, transportation and utilities (40 jobs); financial activities (10 jobs); professional and business services (20 jobs); leisure and hospitality (40 jobs); and government (80 jobs).
Only one industry saw a decrease in jobs, which was educational and health services (10 jobs).
