The Willows girls basketball team narrowly lost to Lassen at Butte College on Friday during the Division IV championship game.

The Grizzlies picked up two points with seconds to go in the final quarter to win 42-41.

Lassen took the lead in the first quarter and held it until the Willows came back to score 15 points in the fourth, with the Honkers’ Claire Maghan tying it up, 37-37. Lassen’s Jamie Larson then scored bringing their score to 39.

Then, the Honkers’ Marissa Peters made a three-pointer to gain the lead.

After Willows’ Hanna Parisio’s made a free throw, Willows strengthened their lead to 41-39.

However, a foul on Willows led to Lassen’s Ronnie Merrill shooting a free throw.

In the final seconds of the game, Lassen’s Ellie Stewart’s basket sealed the Grizzlies’ victory.
