It was feast or famine for the Willows High School softball team at a rain shortened Randy Watt Invitational Tournament in Colusa last week, as they were shutout 16-0 in their opener against Ripon before holding off a furious late rally by Pierce to earn a 16-12 victory in their second game.

Against the Indians, last year’s tournament champion, the Honkers were held to just three hits while striking out nine times.

Aliyah Stevenson, Star Plaza and Codie Giffin each collected a hit in the loss.

Yet, the Honkers came back with a vengeance against the Bears pounding out 18 hits and 16 runs led by Hanna Pariso who finished 2 for 2 with a homerun and five RBI.

Also joining the mulitple hit parade was Tayler Berens who finished four for five with a double and two RBIs, Stevenson who was a perfect 3 for 3 with four runs scored and Marissa Peters whose stat line read 3 for 4 with a double and two RBIs.

Willows (1-1) hosted Enterprise on Tuesday before traveling to Cottonwood on Wednesday to take on West Valley.
