Federal grant could help waterfowl habitat in big way
Remember that duck-calling competition we covered a few weeks back?
Well, the truth of the matter is what there aren’t going to be nearly as many people learning about duck calls if we keep losing waterfowl habitat.
That’s why we’re also excited about the news that a $1 million federal grant to help wetlands.
Locally, the grant will affect the Gray Lodge Wildlife Area in Gridley, the Sutter Basin, the Sutter National Wildlife Refuge, seven privately-owned properties in Yuba County’s District 10, and the Butte Sink National Wildlife Refuge, which is in Colusa, Butte and Sutter counties.
Cookbook is a great idea
We’re all about community involvement, so it’s neat to see that the Willows Chamber of Commerce is putting together a cookbook with resident recipes.
To submit recipes, visit https://createmycookbook.com/groups/rjD3TJebc to add it to the cookbook. The link can also be found on the “Willows Chamber” Facebook page.
The chamber office is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Swing by to have a member enter a recipe.
