The annual Princeton Holy Ghost and St. Anthony Portuguese Festa is set for Sunday, June 30.
This year’s Festa schedule has changed a little, according to a press release. The parade will begin at 11 a.m. at the Portuguese Hall and process to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church for mass at 11:30 a.m. After mass, the newly crowned queens will parade back to the hall.
A traditional lunch of Portuguese sopas, braised beef and potato salad will be served around 1 p.m. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m.
In between lunch and dinner, there will be an auction of donated goods, according to the press release. Dancing to the music of the David Pasco Band will be in the afternoon and evening.
The church and hall are located at the corner of Center Street and First Alley Street in Princeton.
Chris Souza, this year’s committee president, announced that the 2019 queen is Sophia Stocks, 17, of Princeton.
She is the daughter of Kimberly and Steven Stocks and is a recent Colusa High School graduate and Butte College freshman.
Her sidemaids were named as Kate Amaro and Madison Fonseca. Amaro is 13 and the daughter of Diane and Mark Amaro. She is a freshman at Willows High School.
Fonseca, 16, of Orland is the daughter of Tristan and Ben Parkerson and Dan and Marci Fonseca. She is a senior at Orland High School.
The little queen is Chelsea Perman, who is the daughter of Corey and Steven Perman of Willows.
Her sidemaids are Analise Weststeyn, daughter of Tonya and Peter of Linden; and Olivia Vasquez, daughter of Mallorie and Bobby of Willows.
