One Orland business is making its mark on the world; the Simplot Grower Solutions retail store was selected to receive the Environmental Respect Award for the company’s dedication to responsible fertilizer methods. The agriculture award is given to companies all over the world; the Orland store was one of 26 retailers in the country to receive it.
“This is a great honor, and the Orland team has earned it,” said Simplot Grower Solutions Vice President and General Manager Dave Dufault in a press release. “This shows our commitment to stewardship and sustainability is world class, which is something we’ve worked hard for. Congratulations to everyone involved!”
The award is presented to fertilizer businesses that demonstrate eco-friendly practices. Orland’s Simplot qualified through community outreach, facility maintenance, fertilizer handling, water management and protection, safety and health, security, training, and its approach to sustainability and responsible environmental stewardship, according to a press release.
“The Orland location has worked hard to achieve operational excellence, an exceptional site appearance, and excellent customer service,” said Unit Supervisor Les Dutro in a press release. “This win is a big morale boost for all the effort our staff puts into their work each day – effort that often goes unnoticed.”
Simplot is the only business in California to receive the honor, which is presented by the organizations AgriBusiness and CropLife. The award has been presented to agriculture-based businesses for the past 27 years.
To celebrate winning the award, Simplot hosted an open house on Tuesday where local residents were given a tour of the facilities.
