‘In the Orchard’ workshop: Preparing for harvest, dust management and more
The Almond Board of California is hosting a two-hour workshop focusing on tips and techniques that will improve people’s harvesting process and reduce dust, keeping you, your employees and your neighbors happy. Industry experts will cover preparing for harvest and dust management techniques, air quality incentive programs and Almond Orchard 2025 Goals and ongoing ABC research. Wild Things Live Animal Show
The Friends of the Willows Library and Conservation Ambassadors will present a Wild Things Animal Show from 1 p.m.-2 p.m. at the Willows Public Library, 201 N. Lassen St., Willows. This is part of the summer reading program and will feature live, wild animals.
Fireworks Paint Night
Art with Anj will host a paint night fundraiser to support the local Fourth of July Fireworks Display at Jensen Park. The fundraiser will be at Round Table Pizza in Willows from 6:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m. All supplies will be included along with step-by-step instructions. Glenn Mennonite Church Blood Drive
A Vitalant blood drive is scheduled from 3 p.m.-7 p.m. at the Glenn Mennonite Church school in Glenn. Participants receive a promo code for a $10 voucher for Fandango or Chipotle for 200 rewards.
Both Willows and Orland have groups planing to line local streets with American flags in honor of Flag Day.
- Willows – Flags will line Wood Street in Willows. People can meet at Semper Fitness, 300 N. Butte St., Willows, at 7:30 a.m. to help set up the flag display. Afterward (10 a.m.) there will be a flag retirement ceremony on the steps of Memorial Hall, 525 W. Sycamore St., Willows.
- Orland – Flags will be set up at 7 a.m. on Walker Street in Orland in honor of Flag Day and will be taken down at 8 p.m.
Ice Cream Social: Fire Awareness
and Meet Your Partners
There will be an Ice Cream Social: Fire Awareness and Met Your Partners event at the Elk Creek High School football field, 3430 County Road 309, Elk Creek, from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. This is an opportunity for people to meet their first responders. The evening will include kids’ activities, demonstrations, fire engines, helicopters, how to protect your home and/or ranch and more. The event aims to help increase fire awareness and encourage the protection of the community and people’s property.
Chamber Community Farmers Market
The Willows Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Community Farmers Market at the Tractor Supply Co. parking lot, 811 N. Humboldt Ave., Willows, 8 a.m.-11 a.m. (or until vendors decide to leave). Fresh fruits, vegetables, crafts and more will be available. Vendors interested in setting up can do so at the farmers market and it costs $10 for a booth.
