New Orland wastewater plant
An unfortunate smell has been common to Orland for some time now.
But help is on the way: The Orland City Council recently announced the installation of a new wastewater treatment system that will eliminate the smell and save the town money.
The new Blue Frog System was installed on June 17 and is unsurpassed in its ability to break down organic sludge in the city’s wastewater ponds that cause the smell.
Residents have already noticed an improvement from the new system.
The City Council made the right decision in adopting this system.
Fire in Stony Creek area
About 1,000 acres in the Stony Creek area went up in flames recently. Firefighters evacuated those living in the surrounding area.
Fortunately, those same firefighters were able to contain the fire before anyone was hurt and any buildings were destroyed.
A 14-year-old girl has admitted to starting the fire, with witnesses reporting seeing youths playing with fire before the blaze.
Let this be a lesson to not play with fire for any reason.
