Orland museum hosts fair
Museums are wonderful places to learn about history.
That’s why it was a great service to the community recently when the Alta Schmidt House Museum once again opened its doors to Orland youths for the 23rd annual Orland History Fair.
The Orland Historical and Cultural Society was responsible for the event.
The weeklong fair offered many activities for youths, including a course in studying artifacts, a scavenger hunt, a hike and more.
This was a great event for the community and its youths. They got to learn about Orland’s history in a fun way.
Donations sought for sculpture
Here’s a cause worth supporting: An Orland artist is seeking donations for her sculpture intended to celebrate Orland.
“Our Hope and Heritage” is planned as a life-sized sculpture in Centennial Park to be placed early next year.
To complete the project, the artist, Tamara Bonet, needs community donations.
