The Department of Fish and Wildlife is asking for volunteers to help clean the Upper Butte Basin Wildlife Area. Volunteers will also be asked to help maintain hunting blinds in the area, in addition to picking up trash.

Clean-up day is scheduled for Aug. 5 from 7 a.m.-noon. Volunteers will be provided with water, insect repellant and a barbecue lunch hosted by the California Waterfowl Association. However, attendees are asked to bring their own gloves, work boots and sunscreen.

Anyone interested in volunteering for the clean-up day can call 982-2169. On the day of the cleanup, volunteers will meet at the Upper Butte Basin headquarters at Howard Slough Wildlife Area on 9256 Highway 162 in Butte City.
