The Willows Honkers varsity baseball team notched seven runs in the sixth inning of a game against Quincy on March 16, 14-3.

The Honkers’ Colton Geiger, Wyatt Peters, Justin Chapman, James Holvik and Leslee Dalrymple all contributed in the big inning with RBIs.

Geiger had a total of six RBIs and three runs; Chapman had one RBI; Holvik scored one run and had one RBI; and Dalrymple had two RBIs and one run. 

The team collected 17 hits on the day. 

Danny Valdez was on the mound for Willows for two innings, allowing no runs or hits and had three strikeouts.

Grayson Taylor led the Honkers with five stolen bases, four runs and one RBI. 

On Monday, the Honkers lost to Durham 3-5 on the road.

Willows notched three runs in the third inning, their big bats in the inning were led by a single from Leslee Dalrymple and a double by Colby Stilwell.

Valdez was on the pitcher’s mound and allowed three hits and one over two innings. He struck out one Durham player.

Dalrymple, Ryan Shipplehoute, Nate Reed and Stilwell each collected one hit to lead the Honkers. 

Willows played at home against Orland on Tuesday, but stats were not available prior to publication.

The Honkers’ next game will be in Eureka against St. Bernard’s on Friday for the ACA Tourney.
