A grass fire that broke out in Sutter County on Saturday was 85 percent contained and had burned 1,350 acres as of Sunday evening, according to the Sutter County fire chief.

The fire began at around 2:30 p.m. on Saturday just south of North Butte Road on West Butte Road, said John Shalowitz, Sutter County fire chief.

The crews were planning on moving into the patrol and mop up status Sunday night, Shalowitz said. A lot of the resources were also going to be relieved with a small amount staying to monitor the fire.

The fire had not affected any structures and was strictly a grass fire, he said, and it’s burned up into the Peace Valley Park.

Agencies that were supporting the firefighting efforts included the Sutter County Fire Department, Cal Fire, East Nicolaus Fire Department, Pleasant Grove Fire Department, city of Colusa, Yuba City, Maxwell Fire Department, Sacramento River Fire Department, Sacramento Metropolitan Fire Department, California Highway Patrol and the Sutter County Sheriff’s Office.
