An Olivehurst man accused of raping a 17-year-old girl at a graduation party pleaded not guilty to charges Wednesday.
Jose Reyes Gutierrez, 55, was charged in Yuba County Superior Court last month with felony rape of a drugged victim and felony unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor three years younger or more than the defendant.
The victim was attending a graduation party in the 1700 block of Crystal Court June 9 when she became drunk and felt ill, according to court documents.
When she went to lay down in a spare bedroom, Reyes Gutierrez allegedly came into the room and raped her for about five to 10 minutes. He was later confronted by a family member, court documents allege, and he fled to Mexico. Deputy District Attorney Shiloh Sorbello said Reyes Gutierrez was arrested in Sacramento after returning to the country.
He remains in Yuba County Jail with $1 million bail, and is due back in court for a bail hearing July 10.
