Rain expected in Marysville area through holiday weekend

The area in and around New Bullards Bar Reservoir is seen snow covered early last week after storms moved through the Northern California region. 

In the Marysville area, more rain is expected today through the holiday weekend with highs ranging from the high 40s to the low 50s and lows in the low 40s, according to the National Weather Service. In Grass Valley, near New Bullards Bar Reservoir, snow may return Thursday night and Friday.

Weather service forecasters predicted Valley showers and light mountain snow to set in today, with snow levels between 3,500 feet and 4,500 feet, rising to 5,500 to 6,500 feet Wednesday and dropping to 4,000 to 5,000 on Thursday, the Sacramento Bee reported.

The Sierra Nevada could see 2 to 6 feet of snow throughout the week. At Donner Pass along Interstate 80, weather forecasters predicted between 6.6 and 8.3 feet of snow between today and Saturday could fall. Echo Summit along Highway 50 could see anywhere between 5 and 6.6 feet of snow during the same time, the Bee reported.

Along Interstate 5 at Mount Shasta, forecasters said 2 to 3 feet of snow could fall over the week. Lassen Peak east of Redding will see the most snowfall, with more than 8.3 feet.
