I had a friend, LeeLee. Well, she was more than my friend. We were BEST friends, life sisters, if you will. On Feb. 18, 2012, she was killed by a 19-year-old on his cell phone. She was on her way to pick up her husband from work. The driver was lost and trying to find directions on his GPS. Yes, that simple ... just looking at directions. How many times have you all done that? He didn’t notice the two sets of rumble strips that were alerting him to the stop sign ahead. She was traveling 55 mph going west and he T-boned into her at about 50 mph going north. Please, pull over to use your cell phones. I miss my friend. I will stood out on a corner on Feb. 18, holding a sign, trying to change someone’s mind about distracted driving.
