Gold Sox pitcher Collin Wilson delivers a pitch during a game last week at Colusa Casino Stadium.

The Yuba-Sutter Gold Sox took the field on Tuesday looking to avenge Sunday’s loss, but came up short against the San Francisco Seagulls as they fell by a final score of 11-3.

In the bottom of the first inning the Gold Sox would dig a tough hole for themselves as they surrendered three runs to the Seagulls.

In the second inning it looked as if Yuba-Sutter might have found their offensive spark responding with two runs.

Unfortunately, it was more of the same for the Seagulls as they pummeled two more runs to take a 5-2 lead heading into the third inning.

After both team’s defenses held things down for awhile, it wasn’t until the seventh inning when San Francisco really broke things wide open. After five runners crossed the plate, the Seagulls took a seven run lead before going on to win by a final score of 11-3.

Despite the tough loss, the Gold Sox saw standout performances from the following players:

-Tyler Carpenter, who tallied two hits and one run  with one RBI

-Isaac D’Agostino, who recorded one hit and one run

-Mike Shoenberger, who had a hit, run and an RBI.

-Billy Ralston, who had one hit and one walk.

-Brad Jones, who allowed two hits and struck out two batters.

The Yuba-Sutter Gold Sox will look to get back in the win column when they finish up their home-and-away series against the San Francisco Seagulls tonight at

6:35 p.m.
