The Yuba-Sutter Gold Sox fell to the San Francisco Seagulls in a doubleheader on Sunday at the Colusa Casino Stadium in Marysville, 7-4 in the first game and 3-2 in the second.

During Sunday’s first game, both the Gold Sox and the Seagulls scored two runs in the third inning but San Francisco scored another two in the fourth and three runs at the top of the sixth. Yuba-Sutter scored one run at the bottom of the fifth and another on in the seventh inning. 

Leading the Gold Sox were Michael Boomgarden, who went 1-for-3 and scored two runs; Mike Shoenberger who went 2-for-4; Brandon Motheral who went 3-for-5; and Chase Thatcher and Issac D’Agostino each scored a run. 

During the second game, the Gold Sox scored the first run in the bottom of the second inning. The Seagulls then scored one run in each of the third, fourth and seventh innings. Yuba-Sutter scored one run in the seventh inning. 

Shoenberger, who went 1-for-3, and Avery Shugrue, who also went 1-for-3, scored both of Yuba-Sutter’s runs. 

The Yuba-Sutter Gold Sox (1-2) will play against the California Bees on the road on Tuesday.
