Gold Sox teammates finish up a high-five after the top of the third inning at Colusa Casino Stadium on May 31.

After dropping two games to the Medford Rogues earlier this week, the Yuba-Sutter Gold Sox bounced back on Thursday night at home as the boys in white routed the South Bay Storm by a final score of 10-5.

After the Storm took a 3-0 lead in the second inning, Yuba-Sutter would have to ignite a comeback and ignite they would.

Heading into the bottom of the fourth down 4-1, the Gold Sox erupted for seven runs as both Nick Simmons and Mike Shoenberger hit for multiple RBI’s.

After taking an 8-4 lead, the Gold Sox would rely on some clutch pitching to hold off any rally effort put together by the Storm.

After Gold Sox starter Brian Sullivan went out after three innings, reliever  Zach Carrell came in and got three strikeouts only allowing five hits and just three earned runs in four innings of work.

After South Bay was only able to add on one more run in the top of the ninth inning, the Gold Sox got the final out and went on to win by a final score of 10-5.

Notable stat lines on the evening for Yuba Sutter included the following players: Simmons, who went 1-for-3 with three runs and two walks; Shoenberger, who had four hits and two RBI and Tyler Carpenter who had one hit and one run in the game.

With Thursday’s win the Gold Sox currently sit in fourth place in the GSCBL, just a half game back of the third place Reno Rams.

Yuba-Sutter will play game two of their series against the South Bay Storm tonight at Colusa Casino Stadium. First pitch is et for 7 p.m.
