The East Nicolaus baseball team battled against Durham on the road for the league championship on Monday. 

The Spartans won 3-2 in extras.

East Nicolaus’ Jaykob Butler had 110 pitches on the mound and only allowed two runs. Conner Timmins came in as relief to earn the win – pitching the last three innings and didn’t allow any runs. 

Mason Zarges went 2-for-3 and scored two runs and Caleb Born was 2-for-4 and drove in the winning run in the eighth inning. 

Notable players on the defensive side included Isidro Martinez, Mitch Barker and Gabe White. 

Barker and White both had hits in the game.

East Nicolaus’ (8-5) next game is not yet scheduled.

Colfax 9, Marysville 2

In Colfax – The Indians varsity baseball team fell to Colfax on the road on Monday, 9-2.

Marysville’s Alex Torrez went 2-for-2; Bryson Lane was 1-for-2 with an RBI; and Daniel Jones went 1-for-3 with a run scored.

Marysville (15-8) will play at Colfax today at 4 p.m.

VARSITY SOFTBALL

Yuba City 4, Bella Vista 1

In Fair Oaks – The Honkers defeated Bella Vista on the road on Monday, 4-1. 

Blake Craft pitched all seven innings for Yuba City, striking out 18 and walking three. Craft gave up two hits and one run. 

For the Honkers, Craft went 2-for-4 and Alyssa Richebacher was 2-for-3. 

Yuba City (11-2) will play against Woodcreek at home today at 4 p.m.
