East Nicolaus softball celebrates a tournament title from earlier this season. The Spartans currently hold the No. 1 seed heading into the playoffs next week. 


The Marysville varsity baseball team finished out its regular season on Tuesday as it fell to league foe Colfax by a final score of 7-2. 

Despite the tough loss, Marysville’s Alex Torrez was able to lead the charge as he went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. 

Other notable contributions came from Morgun Goss, who went 1-for-4 with a run scored as well as Cole Tyler and Daniel Jones who each hit a single. 

Marysville baseball (15-9, 11-4) will now await to hear about playoff scheduling as the team expects to start playoffs on Tuesday. 


East Nicolaus 9, Yuba City 0

Two of the local powerhouses for softball faced of on Wednesday in what proved to be a rather one–sided game in favor of the Spartans.

Standout performances for East Nicolaus included the following players: Savannah Price went 2-for-3 with a double; Emma Gaytan went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI; Remmington Hewitt went 2-for-3 with a two RBI; Haley Busby went 2-for-3 with a double and Riley Grisby went 3-for-4. 

In the circle for the Spartans, Savhanna Angland pitched all seven innings only giving up two hits and capturing the shutout win. 

As for the Honkers, Blake Craft and Alyssa Williams tallied the only hit for Yuba City. 

As both teams won their leagues, they will now await to hear about postseason scheduling. East Nicolaus finished the season with a record of 28-2-2 and Yuba City finished the season with an overall record of 11-3-2.
