The Indians softball team secured its first ever Pioneer Valley League title on Wednesday when it defeated Bear River in a double–header by scores of 20-6 and 17-2.
In game one, notable performances came from Josie Rapp, who went 2-for-3 with six RBI, Haley Green, who went 2-for-2 with an RBI and Madison Powell who finished with two RBI. In the circle for Marysville, Riley Duff recorded two strikeouts.
In game two, the following players led the Indians’ offense: Veda Smith went 3-for-4 with three RBI, Myra Hinojosa went 2-for-2 with an RBI and Isabella Mendoza hit a two–RBI double.
Birdie Galviz pitched a complete game with two strikeouts.
The Marysville softball team (18-2-1, 9-0) will play its last league game on Friday at Lindhurst.
Sutter 5, Liberty Ranch 1
The Huskies junior varsity softball team came away from Wednesday’s game with a solid win as their offense helped them win by a four-run margin.
Notable performances came from Lexi Cummings and Sydney Harper who each tallied a hit on the day. Sydney Cavazos pitched in with two runs as well.
Sutter JV softball (21-2, 8-0) will play at Gridley today.
Lindhurst 6, Ripon 3
The Blazers tennis team competed in the second round of the playoffs on Wednesday and came away with a three–point victory.
Winners for Lindhurst were the following players: Peter Thao (6-2), Andrew Vang (6-3, 6-1), Isaac Acosta and Peter Her (6-1, 6-4), Andrea Ayala (6-0, 6-1), Aylin Zaragoza and Daisha Lor (6-4, 6-2) and the mixed doubles team of Johnson Vang and Kathy Vang (5-7, 6-2, 6-1).
Lindhurst will travel with last week’s doubles winners and runner-ups to represent the Pioneer Valley League today at Oakpark Tennis Center in Stockton.
