The Sutter Union High School baseball team celebrates its section title on Wednesday after defeating Corning by a final score of 8-1. 


The Sutter baseball team secure its ninth section title in the past 13 seasons on Wednesday night as it bested Corning by a final score of 8-1. 

“I’m really proud of our guys. We have a young group so I told them they had to make a decision as to whether they wanted to be a championship team or not and they responded,” said Sutter head coach Stewart Peterson. 

Leading the Huskies on the mound was Austin Dorman who threw five strikeouts and only allowed four hits on his way to a complete game performance. 

 As for Sutter’s offense, Cory McIntyre went 2-for-4 with two RBI, Dorman went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI, while Austin Jones went 1-for-4 with a double and Jason Crooks went 1-for-3 with an RBI.  

“It’s been a true pleasure coaching the few seniors we have on this team. I wish them the best in their future endeavors,” said coach Peterson after the game. 


Vacaville 1, Yuba City 0

The Honkers softball team ended its season on Wednesday night in Stockton as it fell just shy of a championship bid. 

“I’m really proud of the girls and how they played all season. They played really hard down to the very last out,” said Honkers head coach Trish Lucich. 

The Yuba City softball team ended its season with an overall record of 15-5-2 and a league record of 11-1.
