The Sutter Union High School shotgun shooting team had a lot of success last weekend as the junior varsity team placed in first at the State Skeet Championship in Stockton.

Leading the junior varsity team to its first place finish were the following Huskies: Connor Babler, Garrett Klotz, Jackson Zoller, Logan Miller, Bryannah Crouch, Isabel Boardman and Trever Reilly. Zoller also took third place as an individual in the event.

The varsity team consisted of the following participants: Jared Leong, Tony Frost, Bryce Morris, Kevin Brugmann, Logan Samson, Ian Lang, Kody Clinton, Tayler Niesen, and Devan Davis.

Leong went into a shoot-off for third place but fell just shy and took fourth place, despite only missing five birds all day.

The state championships for trap are in Stockton on June 15. Sutter currently sits at second places in both varsity and junior varsity trap. The team will also attend the CYSSA league U.S. Open in July and compete in all three venues: trap, skeet and sporting clays.
