The Sutter Union High School softball team celebrates its third straight section title on Wednesday.

The Sutter Union High School softball team took down Yreka on Wednesday to capture it’s third consecutive section title.

“It was a really good game defensively for us,” said Sutter head coach Stefanie Danna. “I’m very proud of these girls. Very few Sutter sports teams can say that they have completed a 3-peat, so this is pretty cool,” added coach Danna.

In the circle on Wednesday, Hailey Peterson threw a complete game shutout, only allowing one hit in the contest.

Another notable defensive performance included center fielder Regan Ford who gunned down a runner trying to advance from first to third in the second inning.

As for the Huskies offense, multiple batters cashed in: Ford went 3-for-4 with a triple and two RBI; Ella Jolley and Kat Simms both went 2-for-3 and Riley Wickum went 2-for-3 with an RBI.

The Sutter softball team ended its season with an overall record of 23-5 and a league record of 9-1.
