The Yuba City High boys basketball team won its fourth straight game, and seventh out of its last ninth contest, following a 71-68 victory over Sac-Joaquin Section’s 27th-ranked Lincoln Fighting Zebras in the finals of the Lindhurst Holiday Tournament last week.Â
YC (9-4) outscored Lincoln, 23-16 in the fourth to stamp out the title. Davis Warren dropped in a team-high 20 points, including a key bucket in the final two minutes, while Luis Dumaran added 17 for the Honkers. YC’s Ryan Grace chipped in 12, while Dhiraj Atwal provided 11 against Lincoln (13-4).Â
Rio Linda took down host Lindhurst, 62-45 in the third place game. Larry Stephens scored 14, Octavio Lopez 11 in a losing effort.Â
Sutter Union and Wheatland Union each won their final games of the Lindhurst tournament.Â
Marysville 83, El Camino (Sacramento) 58
The Indians boys basketball team finished its last tournament of 2022 with a 3-0 finish at the second annual ‘Coach Corn Classic’ at Yuba College.
Marysville defeated El Camino of Sacramento, 83-58 to run its overall record to 12-3. Up next is Marysville’s Pioneer Valley League home opener against Sutter at 7 p.m. today.
Against El Camino (9-5), Marysville had four in double figures, led by senior Joshua Brown Jr.’s 16 points. Amrin Mann and Kayden Ellyson each posted 15, while Josiah Arrington finished with 14 against El Camino.
The day before, Marysville toppled Oakmont, 61-46.Â
